 "range_rule": "A range is the full-scale swing a port is built for. An output claims the smallest range that contains its full-scale signal and keeps that signal within the range's ceiling; an input claims the largest range whose full swing it accepts without clipping. A class with a default range carries it when the port list names none. Ranges never relax EIS-SIG-002 to EIS-SIG-004: every 3.5 mm input withstands ±12 V and no output exceeds it."
