Hey

There was some interest in doing a groupbuy for LM6172 IC’s

If we can get to 250 or 500 pieces, it will become interesting.

If you ordered a pcb (set) of the Triple Function Generator with me,

I can send them along without extra cost.

If not, I don’t know if the shipping cost will be too much - this will depend on how much IC’s you want. the weight…

Best option is Mouser, because they pay the taxes & shipping

those are SMD only.

I was considering to have a footprint for those on my pcb’s. as alternative and possible cheaper solution.

but most Cadet and Castle designs don’t have 'm… and adapter boards will make 'm more expensive again …

That TI link should be going to PDIP, since that’s what LM6172IN/NOPB is. For me it shows an SOIC pic, but it’s the PDIP page.

the price is without taxes . when I do a test checkout, this stays the same.

There might be import taxes though. Mouser takes care of those when I order there.

An easy way to settle might be to order 500, have everyone pay at the 250 price point and maybe people can get a couple extra depending? It seems fair if @reverselandfill ends up with an extra pocket full for his trouble, too.

Thinking about building some Castle series modules I was looking into some of these also. A lot if it was for the entire Castle series, and maybe a community build or something like the Triple Function Generator.

Ordering at the first price tier is prohibitively costly for me. So It would be ideal to participate in a group buy if another one were to happen.

depends on what type of shipping you prefer and what the weight is.

I think untracked is about 4,50 to 8 euro, depending on the weight of the package

tracked shipping ranges from 8 to 17 euro

I can weigh the LM6172’s , then you will know the estimate

10x LM6172 = about 5 gram

the box = 50 gram

packaging padding = 10 to 20 gram (I think)

so 10x LM6172 will cost 5,50 untracked, 12,50 tracked

The Castle DIY series BOM, totals an amount of 29 LM6172.

For reverselandfill’s Triple Function Generator, 6 LM6172 are needed.

I’ll add two extra Castle Clock VCO, so another 4.

6 extra spares for future projects / build problems.

Total: 45 LM6172 for me.
