Cyclops Shutter and Interlock Switches?

Hi all, I’m new to video synthesis so apologies for a noob question. So I got a Cyclops (is there a thread dedicated to Cyclops? If yes I didn’t find it) and had a hard time getting it to work with my projector until I realized that it apparently only sends out an ILDA signal if interlock is on. So in the absence of a manual for Cyclops I’m guessing the only purpose of the Interlock switch is to activate the interface? Like a security switch? And can anybody tell me what the Shutter switch is doing? It has no visual effect in my case.
