Foreword

This page carries the edition of the specification, its status, and what each edition changed. It is the one page of EIS that narrates change; the clauses describe EIS as it is, and a reader who wants to know what differs between two editions reads this page, not the clauses. The page is informative.

Edition v0.1.0
Status Working draft

Maintainer LZX Industries

Claims against this edition EIS draft until v0.1.0 is tagged; a claim then names the tag (4.2)

The identifiers of the requirements register are frozen from this edition onward (CONTRIBUTING.md): an identifier is never reused or resequenced, and a requirement whose meaning changes gets a new one. Every example claim in the draft names EIS draft, and the claim tool refuses to print a release-shaped claim line until the edition is tagged.

Change summary

v0.1.0 (working draft)

The first edition. It defines the interface between Eurorack modules, enclosures, bus boards, power supplies and power converters, and the cables that join them, in six parts: a framework (scope, normative references, terms, conformance, and the generated requirements register); the mechanical interface (the rack, modules and their front panels and boards, rails, inserts, mounting screws, and enclosures); power (the power domains, supplies and converters, grounding, the bus and its boards, bus CV and gate, PWR-DC12, and PWR-A6); signals and video (the port list, patch signal classes, video timing, and VID-75); control (CTRL-USB and the host bridge protocol); and assembly, which binds the person who fits a row together. Every requirement has an identifier, the product types it applies to, the role or interface it binds, how it is verified, its provenance, and a line of rationale, and the same model generates the register, the figure cards, the design references, and the site. A product conforms by a claim line in the grammar of clause 4.2, kept in a claim file that eis claim validates, and publishes the figures the register asks of it. Seventeen informative annexes carry the rail and insert catalogs, the module survey, the verification measurements, the planning aids, the rationale, and worked examples.

Errata

None. An erratum to a released edition is listed here with the identifier it corrects and the date, and is carried into the next vX.Y.Z+1 edition.
